HC Deb 17 July 1911 vol 28 cc657-8
Mr. WILLIAM THORNE

asked the President of the Board of Trade, whether he is aware that, in consequence of a labour dispute, Messrs. Short Brothers, Sunderland, have locked out a number of boiler makers, and that the places of the men locked out have been filled by men supplied by the Sunderland Labour Exchange; and if he intends taking action in the matter?

The PRESIDENT of the BOARD of TRADE (Mr. Buxton)

I am informed that no men have been engaged by the firm mentioned through the Sunderland Labour Exchange since February last.
