HC Deb 17 July 1911 vol 28 cc659-60
Mr. COOPER

asked whether in the case of an insured person requiring and being ordered nourishing diet, such as milk, beef tea, wine, etc., or simple appliances such as bandages and trusses, arrangements will be made for their supply; and whether they will be a proper charge on the National Insurance Fund?

Mr. HOBHOUSE

Simple appliances can be supplied as part of medical benefit, but articles of diet cannot. In this respect the National Health Insurance will conform to the ordinary practice of friendly societies.
