HC Deb 17 July 1911 vol 28 cc665-6
Mr. LUNDON

asked the President of the Board of Trade whether his attention has been called by the Cork and Kerry Company, Kilmallock, county Limerick, to the action of the Great Southern and Western Railway Company in delaying the transfer of several tons of butter booked to Glasgow from Kilmallock for two days; is he aware that the Glasgow merchant refused to take the butter, it having been tainted owing to the delay caused by the railway company; and, in view of the many such occurrences which take place throughout Ireland, as well as the fact that the majority of the Irish farmers make a living through agriculture, will steps be taken to prevent a repetition of such negligence on the part of the railway company, and thus afford Irish agriculturists an ample opportunity of placing their produce in the English markets?

Mr. BUXTON

I have forwarded a copy of my hon. Friend's question to the rail- way company for their observations, and will communicate with him again on receiving their reply.
