HC Deb 12 July 1911 vol 28 c374
Sir HENRY CRAIK

asked whether any reason exists to justify the difference between the rates of pay in the Punjab and those for corresponding posts in other provinces; whether the Secretary of State is aware that complaints have been made of this difference; and whether he would be prepared to consider any representation of the Government of India on the matter?

Mr. TREVELYAN

The scales of pay of the Indian Civil Service in the several provinces have been from time to time determined in accordance with local conditions. The Secretary of State is not aware of any complaints from members of the Service in the Punjab, but will give full consideration to any representation that the Government of India may make.
