HC Deb 12 July 1911 vol 28 cc363-4
Mr. FELL

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer when he will print the Amendments to the National Insurance Bill he proposes to move and on which the discussion now proceeding so largely depends?

Mr. LLOYD GEORGE

The hon. Member will find certain proposals of the Government already printed as Amendments to Clauses 14, 41, 42, 43. I will have all Government Amendments printed as early as practicable.

Mr. FELL

Can the right hon. Gentleman put down the Amendments to Clause 51 at once?

Mr. LLOYD GEORGE

I quite agree it is desirable to put these Amendments down as soon as possible. I will see that they are put down either to-night or to-morrow.

Mr. C. BATHURST

In view of the importance of the matter and the general interest in it, will the right hon. Gentleman put down his new Clause with regard to temporary sickness as soon as possible?

Mr. LLOYD GEORGE

This, as the hon. Gentleman knows, is a very debatable matter, and I have invited an expression of opinion before the Clause is framed. I think the hon. Gentleman has our suggestions in his own possession.

Mr. C. BATHURST

No.

Mr. LLOYD GEORGE

I am sorry, but they are available. I should rather like, before I put down the Clause finally, to have the opinions of hon. Members specially interested.

Mr. C. BATHURST

And when they are forthcoming, will the right hon. Gentleman take steps to make them public?

Mr. LLOYD GEORGE

Certainly.
