HC Deb 05 July 1911 vol 27 c1143
Mr. COURTHOPE

asked what progress has been made with the experiments preliminary to the adoption of a new magazine rifle; and whether he is yet in a position to give information to the House as to the breech action, bore, or sights of the new rifle?

The UNDER-SECRETARY of STATE for WAR (Colonel Seely)

Preliminary experiments have been made, and the further trials necessary before any definite conclusion can be arrived at are now in progress. I am not yet in a position to give any information on the points raised in the question.
