HC Deb 05 July 1911 vol 27 c1139
Mr. KEIR HARDIE

asked the President of the Board of Trade whether he has received any representations with regard to the pay and conditions of service of the clerks employed in the Labour Exchanges; and, if so, whether he is now in a position to give his reply?

The PARLIAMENTARY SECRETARY to the BOARD of TRADE (Mr. Tennant)

Representations have been made to the Board of Trade with regard to the pay and conditions of service of clerks in the Labour Exchange service, and the points raised are being considered; but I am not yet in a position to make any statement on the subject.

Mr. KEIR HARDIE

Can the hon. Gentleman say why no official reply has been sent to the communication received?

Mr. TENNANT

I am not aware that no reply has been sent; but it is impossible to send a reply until the actual decision has been come to. I hope that decision will be very soon come to—I cannot exactly say when.
