HC Deb 05 July 1911 vol 27 c1133
Mr. MORRELL

asked the Secretary to the Treasury whether the Treasury have received from the Board of Agriculture a Report upon an application made by the Lancashire and Western Sea Fisheries Committee for a grant under the Development Act; whether they have yet forwarded that report to the Development Commissioners; and when its terms will be made known?

Mr. HOBHOUSE

Under the Development and Road Improvement Funds Act, 1909, an application when referred by the Treasury to the Government Department concerned is forwarded direct by the Department with their report thereon to the Development Commissioners. I understand that the Development Commissioners have not yet received the report.

Mr. MORRELL

Can the right hon. Gentleman tell me what is the procedure of the Development Commissioners when they receive a report? Will they hear further evidence upon the application, or will they act directly upon the report?

Mr. HOBHOUSE

They will, I suppose, follow their usual practice, and I take it, receive any further information that they think desirable. I should not like to lay down their procedure; they will follow the general practice.
