HC Deb 05 July 1911 vol 27 c1128
Mr. COURTHOPE

asked the Postmaster-General whether, in view of the increasing importance and growing population of Bexhill and the volume of postal work now passing through the post office of that town, he would consider the advisability of promoting the Bexhill office to the status of a head office?

Mr. HERBERT SAMUEL

I have recently reviewed the question of the status of the Bexhill post office in the light of arguments advanced by a deputation on the subject. In view, however, of the facts that Bexhill possesses exactly the same postal facilities as it would possess if the office were a head office, and that there are serious administrative objections to making it a head office, I have found myself unable to sanction any alteration in the present arrangements.
