HC Deb 03 July 1911 vol 27 cc790-1
Mr. JOHN WARD

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether he can give the reason why John Malcolm Fenton was suspended by the certifying surgeon from work as a colour mixer at the Chromo-Litho Transfer Company's-works, Newlands Street, Skelton, Stoke-on-Trent, on 20th March, 1909; whether he has a copy of the certifying surgeon's certificate; and, if so, will he state the nature if the same?

Mr. CHURCHILL

The Home Office is not in possession of a copy of the certifying surgeon's certificate, which is an entry in the health register required to be kept at the works, but it appears from the confidential report made by the surgeon at the time to the Home Office that he considered the man to be suffering from lead poisoning, and that he suspended him in pursuance of No. 2 of the special rules.
