BATHURSTasked whether the Board of Agriculture is applying or supporting an application to the Development Commissioners for a grant to the county councils of £20,000 out of the Development Fund for the purpose of promoting the development of agricultural co-operation; whether an application for a grant for the same purpose has been made to the Commissioners by the Agricultural Organisation Society; and whether, in view of the past services of and experience gained by the latter body and the extreme difficulty, owing to the constitution of many of the county councils, of promoting agricultural co-operation through their instrumentality, the Board will advocate the above society, rather than the county councils, being made the medium for the administration or allocation of any grant that may be made out of the fund for the above purpose?
§ Sir E. STRACHEYThe answer to the first part is that the Board is applying for a grant, and to the second part the answer is in the affirmative. With regard to the third part, the answer is in the negative.
