HC Deb 27 February 1911 vol 22 cc35-6
Mr. CATHCART WASON

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies if, in view of the importance to British trade of the direct service to East Africa, he will consider the desirability of representing to his colleagues the expediency of devoting some portion of the profits derived by the Government from their Suez Canal shares to a reduction of the tolls hampering British trade?

Colonel SEELY

My right hon. Friend regrets that he does not see his way at present to take the action indicated in my hon. Friend's question.
