HC Deb 27 February 1911 vol 22 cc38-9
Mr. JAMES O'KELLY

asked the Chief Secretary to the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland whether he is aware that negotiations for the sale of the J. G. Johnston Estate, county Roscommon, began in November, 1909, but that no progress has been made by the Congested Districts Board although the landlord has sanctioned the sale; and whether he can expedite the completion of the purchase?.

Mr. BIRRELL

When the Irish Land Act, 1909, came into operation on the 6th January, 1910, negotiations had to be renewed as regards this estate. The maps and rentals have been lodged with the Congested Districts Board, and when the estate has been valued an offer will be made to the landlord.
