HC Deb 20 February 1911 vol 21 cc1522-3
Mr. KING

asked when the report of Consul-General Casement, on the treat- ment of natives in the Putumayo region of the Amazon was received; when would it be laid before the House; whether it had been the subject of communications addressed to the Peruvian Government; and whether, if so, any reply had been received?

Mr. McKINNON WOOD

The report from Mr. Casement was received on February 6th. Since then I have heard that the Peruvian Government, to whom certain points which appeared urgent were communicated at once, have ordered a judicial commission to proceed to the Putumayo. I cannot at present reply to the second part of the hon. Member's question.
