HC Deb 09 February 1911 vol 21 cc438-9
Mr. GRIFFITH-BOSCAWEN

asked the Prime Minister whether he is aware that the educational authorities in England and Wales have been hard hit financially by the great falling off in the Exchequer contributions from Customs and Excise, which in the case of the county borough of Dudley amounts in the present year to a reduction of £287, or very nearly the product of ½d. rate; and what steps he proposes to take to fulfil the pledge given some months ago by the Chancellor of the Exchequer that the work of the Education Committees should not be crippled on this account?

Mr. HOBHOUSE

A clause giving effect to the pledge referred to will be included in the Bill for completing the financial arrangements of the current year, which is to be introduced shortly.
