HC Deb 09 February 1911 vol 21 c420
Mr. BYLES

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether he had responded in any way to the speech of the German Imperial Chancellor in the Reichstag on 10th December, 1910, who expressed the opinion that an open and confident exchange of views would be the best means of removing any distrust arising from the comparative strength of the armies and navies of the two countries; whether any recent interchange of views has taken place; and whether he could lay upon the Table of the House any Papers relating thereto?

Mr. McKINNON WOOD

The informal discussions, to which the German Chancellor referred, are continuing, and His Majesty's Government earnestly hope that they will help to promote the maintenance and growth of the existing friendly relations between the two countries. It would not be in the public interest to lay papers.
