HC Deb 14 December 1911 vol 32 cc2531-2
Mr. WILLIAM PEEL

asked whether Foreign Ambassadors and Ministers accredited to and resident in this country, and employing British subjects as domestic servants, will be expected to pay the ordinary employer's contribution; and, if not, in what way will such servants be able to maintain their insurance under the Bill and to avoid arrears?

Mr. LLOYD GEORGE

Accredited Ambassadors and Ministers of Foreign States resident in this country could not be sued for the recovery of contributions payable under the Bill in respect of their servants, just as they cannot be sued for wages. I have no doubt, however, that in most cases the servants' insurance will be properly maintained.
