Mr. MacCALLUM SCOTTasked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs if he will ascertain what restrictions, if any, based on racial considerations, are imposed on the admission of candidates for the public service in the French and Dutch Colonies in the East?
§ Mr. ACLANDMy right hon. Friend agrees with the opinion already expressed by the Secretary of State for the Colonies, that no useful purpose as far as we are concerned would be served by obtaining this information; and, in view of the heavy demands made upon the staff generally for information, I do not see that it would be justifiable to ask for a special investigation and report on this question. If there are published regulations available I will give instructions that they should be obtained.
