HC Deb 04 December 1911 vol 32 cc1025-6
Mr. GRANT

asked whether any calculations have been made as to the increase or decrease of the originally estimated cost of the National Insurance Bill, in consequence of Amendments made to the Bill since its introduction?

Sir HILDRED CARLILE

asked whether the changes made in the National Insurance Bill since its inception throw any increased burden on the State; and, if so, to what extent?

Mr. McKINNON WOOD

The hon. Member will see from the actuaries' report that has just been published that the estimated amount of the State subsidy ten years hence is £5,780,000, as compared with the original estimate of £5,061,000. In addition to this, the establishment of separate Insurance Commissions for Scotland, Ireland, and Wales will involve a further administrative charge, which may be roughly estimated as an additional cost to the State of from £15,000 to £20,000 a year.

Mr. WORTHINGTON-EVANS

What is the capital value of the postponement of redemption and reserve values by some four years?

Mr. McKINNON WOOD

Will the hon. Member give me notice of that?
