Mr. MacCALLUM SCOTTasked whether the judgment just delivered in Calcutta in the Midnapur damage suit was adverse to the same magistrates and the same police officers as those who were censured by the High Court in the Midnapur conspiracy, 1909; whether the judgment of Mr. Justice Fletcher confirms the view taken by the High Court of the conduct of those officers in their treatment of the accused in the conspiracy case; and what course the Secretary of State proposes to take in regard to their position in the Government service, and the titles conferred last year upon the police officers?
