HC Deb 14 August 1911 vol 29 c1535
Mr. J. M. ROBERTSON

asked the Postmaster-General whether he has fully considered the claim of the provincial women supervisors to a seven hours' day; and whether he can now state the decision which has been arrived at?

Mr. HERBERT SAMUEL

I have decided to allow the female assistant supervisors employed upon postal and telegraph work at the six largest provincial post offices as well as in London to revert to a forty-two hours week and to receive the higher scale of pay sanctioned in 1908 for officers performing a forty-eight hours' week. The concession will date from the 1st October next.
