Mr. FRED HALL(Dulwich) asked the First Lord of the Admiralty the number of officers and crew retained on board and the number discharged from the "King Alfred" whilst undergoing repairs from 20th August to 11th September last, which were reported to have been received in consequence of collision with the steamship "Cheapside" off Start Point on 18th June, 1910?
§ The FIRST LORD of the ADMIRALTY (Mr. McKenna)The numbers borne during the whole period referred to were thirty-two officers and 590 men. Thirteen men were discharged.
Mr. FRED HALLAm I to understand, although the battleship was laid up three weeks undergoing repairs, it was only found possible to dispense with the services of thirteen men during that time?
