§ Mr. CHARLES DUNCANasked the First Lord of the Admiralty whether, as a result of A.L. 13.4.07, A. 1806, certain first-class writers at the Admiralty and naval establishments, who were appointed previous to that date, after Civil Service examination, are at present in receipt of lower salaries than first-grade writers who, as a consequence of the order quoted, received their appointments by selection; and will he take early steps to remedy this state of affairs by arranging for first-class writers to receive annual increments, and thus place them, in this respect, on a footing with all other grades of the writing staff?
§ Mr. McKENNAThe facts are as stated in the question, but as the first-class writers have the advantage of being established, it is not considered that any remedy is required.
