HC Deb 07 August 1911 vol 29 cc793-4
Sir WILLIAM BYLES

asked the Prime Minister whether he was aware that the Grand Committee C had been summoned to meet on three consecutive days in the present week, and on one of those days only a quarter of an hour before the House met for prayers; whether he was aware of the practice of these Committees to sit on while the House was in Session, and that Ministers had consequently had to apologise for not being in their places when their questions were called; and, having regard to these innovations, whether he would propose some modification of Standing Order No. 47?

The PRIME MINISTER

I am aware of the circumstances stated by my hon. Friend. I see no reason to propose any modification of the Standing Order dealing with Standing Committees.
