HC Deb 07 August 1911 vol 29 cc794-5
Mr. BALFOUR

I beg to ask the Prime Minister a question of which I gave him notice on Thursday as to whether he can state to the House the date on which he gave His Majesty the advice that Peers should be created?

The PRIME MINISTER

The advice referred to by the right hon. Gentleman, and accepted by the King, was given after the House of Lords had introduced the Amendments into the Parliament Bill. Previous communications of a confidential character had taken place between. His Majesty and his advisers, as to which I may have something to say in the course of the Debate.

NEW MEMBER SWORN. — Sir William Ryland Adkins, Knight, K.C., for South-East Lancashire (Middleton Division).
