HC Deb 02 August 1911 vol 29 c376
Mr. HUNT

asked the Prime Minister whether he can now say if he will suspend the Eleven o'clock Rule on the day on which the Division on the Lords Amendments is to be taken, in order that Members on the back benches may have an opportunity of expressing their views?

Mr. CHURCHILL

The Prime Minister is prevented from attending the House by a slight indisposition, and he has asked me to answer this question for him. This is the answer:—"I have nothing to add to the answers which have already been given to the hon. Gentleman."

Mr. HUNT

Are we to understand that the Government contemplates closuring and gagging the House of Commons on this question of the destruction of the Constitution?

Mr. CHURCHILL

The Prime Minister's answer is that he has nothing to add, and therefore I have nothing to add.

Mr. JOYNSON-HICKS

If the right hon. Gentleman should be in charge of the House when the matter comes on will he consent to do what is asked?

Mr. CHURCHILL

Like the Prime Minister, I must refuse to answer a hypothetical question.
