HC Deb 11 April 1911 vol 24 cc224-5
Mr. LARDNER

asked the Postmaster-General whether he has yet concluded negotiations with the Treasury in reference to the proposed extension of the telephone system to Clones; if not, when does he expect to be in a position to have the necessary works initiated; and whether, in view of the fact that the residents of Clones who signed the guarantee asked for by the post office feel that the representations made to induce them to give such a guarantee have not been given effect to, he will take such steps as may be necessary to expedite the matter?

The POSTMASTER - GENERAL (Mr. Herbert Samuel)

I communicated recently with the Treasury on this subject, and I hope to learn their decision shortly.

Mr. LARDNER

May I ask the right hon. Gentleman to communicate with the Treasury so that this matter may not be held over indefinitely?

Mr. HERBERT SAMUEL

I think the Treasury are showing expedition in the matter.
