HC Deb 11 April 1911 vol 24 c222
Mr. ESSEX

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies whether he has pointed out, or will point out, to the Government of South Africa, in view of the responsibilities of the British Empire to its millions of coloured subjects, the undesirability of seeking the Royal Assent to a Bill, which diminishes the rights of religious association now enjoyed by persons of colour resident in the province of the Cape of Good Hope should they become domiciled in any of the adjacent provinces?

The SECRETARY of STATE for the COLONIES (Mr. Harcourt)

I can only refer my hon. Friend to the answer given to him on 4th April.
