HC Deb 06 April 1911 vol 23 c2406
Mr. FLAVIN

asked the Chief Secretary whether he will ask the Congested Districts Board to institute inquiries in connection with the injury caused to the fishing industry and danger to fishermen's lives by a wrecked coal boat lying as a derelict on the fishing grounds situate between Beale Head and Ballylongford, North Kerry; and whether, in view of the continued injury and danger caused, the Congested Districts Board will take immediate action for the protection of the fishing industry as well as the lives of the men engaged therein?

Mr. BIRRELL

The Congested Districts Board have no information as to the wreck referred to. Inquiries will be made, but the case does not appear to be one in which the Board would be likely to intervene.

Mr. FLAVIN

Will the right hon. Gentleman ask the Congested Districts Board or the Department of Agriculture (Ireland) to send an inspector to inquire into and report as to the great danger caused by the wreck?

Mr. BIRRELL

I will see first what the Congested Districts Board says.
