HC Deb 05 April 1911 vol 23 c2202
Mr. PETO

asked the Prime Minister whether he can state the nature of the objection to the reconsideration of the question of combining the judicial functions of the Privy Council and the judicial functions of the House of Lords in one ultimate court of appeal for the whole Empire; and whether the question will be considered at the approaching Imperial Conference?

The PRIME MINISTER

This question will be considered at the approaching Conference. In the meantime I had better express no opinion on the point raised in the early part of the question.

Mr. MARTIN

Is the right hon. Gentleman aware that the Committee have laid down the rule that Colonial courts should follow the decisions of the Court of Appeal here, and that on various subjects of law there are conflicting decisions in the Court of Appeal here and in the Privy Council itself?

The PRIME MINISTER

I should like notice of that.
