HC Deb 04 April 1911 vol 23 c1994
Mr. KEIR HARDIE

asked the Secretary to the Treasury whether his attention has been drawn to the action of Mr. Morgan, tax assessor at Pontypridd, who refuses to accept properly filled up returns from working men owners of cottages at Mountain Ash unless the title deeds to the cottage are produced before him at his office at Pontypridd; whether he has been informed that the title deeds can be seen at Mountain Ash, despite which he is threatening to distrain upon them unless they either comply with his demand or pay Income Tax in lieu of House Duty; and what action he proposes taking to protect the cottage owners in question from the expense and annoyance to which they are being subjected?

Mr. HOBHOUSE

I will cause inquiry to be made into the matter referred to by the hon. Member.
