HC Deb 21 May 1910 vol 116 cc354-5
10. Lieut.-Commander KENWORTHY

asked the First. Lord of the Admiralty whether the thirty days' pay discharge gratuity is being deducted from the war gratuity of Royal Naval Reserve ratings On demobilisation; and, if so, whether he will consider the refund of this money to the men concerned?

The PARLIAMENTARY SECRETARY to the ADMIRALTY (Dr. Macnamara)

It has been decided that the war gratuity in the case of Royal Naval Reservists shall be inclusive of the Royal Naval Reserve discharge gratuity of thirty days' pay where issuable. This is in consonance with the general rule respecting war gratuities in the fighting Services; for example, the war gratuity to soldiers of the Special Reserve and to those serving under attestations for the duration of the War is inclusive of the Service gratuity issuable under Articles 1117–1119 of the Army Pay Warrant.
