HC Deb 11 May 1910 vol 17 c790
MASTER of ELIBANK

I beg to move "That all Committees have leave to sit, notwithstanding any adjournment of the House to the 8th of June."

Sir FREDERICK BANBURY

We ought to have some explanation of this motion. Does it mean that all Committees are to come up when the House is not sitting, and are to sit in order to do their work when everybody else is away?

MASTER of ELIBANK

No. It means if any Committees desire to sit, Members can attend for the purpose of those Committees. It is purely voluntary.

Sir F. BANBURY

Supposing some Members do not desire to attend, will other Members have power to pass clauses and Bills?

MASTER of ELIBANK

No. That is a matter of arrangement between the Chairman of the Committee and the Members.

Mr. GIBSON BOWLES

May I ask to what Committees this applies? Does it apply to Standing Committees, Select Committees, and all Committees whatever?

MASTER of ELIBANK

Private Bill Committees.

Question put, and agreed to.
