The House being met at a Quarter before Three of the clock,

THE CLERK AT THE TABLE (Sir Courtenay Ilbert) informed the House of the unavoidable absence of Mr. Speaker from this day's sitting:—

Whereupon Mr. EMMOTT, the Chairman of Ways and Means, proceeded to the Table.

Prayers.

And His late Majesty's Most Honourable Privy Council, and others, having met on Saturday last at St. James's Palace, and having directed that His Royal Highness Prince George Frederick Ernest Albert be proclaimed King, by the Style and Title of George the Fifth,—

Mr. DEPUTY-SPEAKER, alone, took and subscribed the Oath, and took the Chair, pursuant to the Standing Order.

Then several other Members took and subscribed the Oath.

Mr. WALTER LONG

I think it would be for the convenience of the House if the Chancellor of the Exchequer could tell us what arrangements the Government propose for the next few days.

The CHANCELLOR of the EXCHEQUER (Mr. Lloyd George)

Perhaps the right hon. Gentleman had better put his question to-morrow. The Prime Minister will be returning to-night; at any rate, I suppose we shall go on swearing in Members for the next couple of days—Tuesday and Wednesday. I think the right hon. Gentleman had better put a question to-morrow with regard to the Address.

Then several Members took and subscribed the Oath, and several other Members made and subscribed the Affirmation required by Law.

NEW MEMBER SWORN. — W. Mitchell-Thomson, esquire, for the County of Down (North Down Division), in the place of T. L. Corbett, esquire, deceased.

Then several other Members took and subscribed the Oath.

Resolved, "That this House do now adjourn."—[Master of Elibank.]

Adjourned accordingly at Three minutes before Five o'clock, till to-morrow (Tuesday), 10th May, at a Quarter before Three o'clock.
