§ Mr. COLEFAXasked the President of the Board of Trade if he will state, comparing each of the years 1907 and 1908 with the year 1895, what percentage of the increase in the value of our exports of cotton manufactures to the protected countries, as denned by the Fiscal Blue Books, is represented by increased exports of grey yarns and bleached and dyed yarns?
Mr. BUXTONOf the increase as between 1895 and 1907 of £12,400,000 in the value of the exports of cotton goods to the principal protected foreign countries 47.2 per cent. represents the increase of grey yarn, and 1.4 per cent, the increase of bleached and dyed yarn, and 51.4 per cent, the increase of cotton piece goods and other manufactures. Of the increase as between 1895 and 1908 of £6,100,000 in the value of the exports of cotton goods to the markets in question 48.7 per cent, represents the increase of grey yarn, and 0.3 per cent, the increase of bleached and dyed yarn, and 51.0 per cent, the increase of cotton piece goods and other manufactures.
