§ Mr. LONSDALE (for Mr. Horner)asked whether it was the intention of the Government to close the police barracks at Augher, county Tyrone, this year; and, if so, whether the Government would reconsider its decision, in view of the fact that all the owners and occupiers of property in the neighbourhood memorialised the Government to retain the barracks, and that the local bench of magistrates repeatedly and unanimously passed resolutions against closing the barracks?
§ Mr. BIRRELLThe Irish Government have decided to close this barrack, as the responsible police authorities are of opinion that it is no longer required. I am not aware of any sufficient reason for reconsidering this decision, and the magistrates and other persons who have written in favour of the retention of the barrack have been so informed.
