HC Deb 16 March 1910 vol 15 cc334-5
Mr. DUNCAN MILLAR

asked whether charts of the Firth of Forth showing the principal fishing grounds have been issued to the officers in command of war vessels entering the Firth; and what precautions are now being taken to prevent damage to fishermen's nets and gear by warships visiting the Firth of Forth?

Mr. McKENNA

Charts showing the probable position of the fishing fleet round the British Isles have been supplied to commanding officers. Special charts for the Forth have not been issued, but commanding officers have been informed of the localities in the Forth where fishing is mostly carried on with a view to their taking such precautions as are possible. As stated in my answer of the 25th February, 1909, to my hon. Friend's predecessor in the representation of St. Andrews Burghs, it is impracticable to restrict the use by His Majesty's ships of regular fairways of traffic such as the Forth.
