HC Deb 14 March 1910 vol 15 cc28-9
Mr. OLIVER LOCKER-LAMPSON

asked the President of the Local Government Board whether he has information regarding the further importation in the near future of foul-fed Chinese pork; and whether he has taken, or intends to take, steps to prohibit such importation?

Mr. BURNS

I have no information as to the arrival of further consignments of Chinese pork in the immediate future. The suggestion that the pigs which have hitherto composed these consignments are foul-fed is not in accordance with the information which I have received on the subject. All carcases of pigs arriving from China are dealt with in accordance with the Foreign Meat Regulations, and no reason has so far been found for imposing further restrictions.
