HC Deb 14 March 1910 vol 15 c17
Mr. MIDDLEMORE

asked what is the total number of battleships considered by the Board to be effective; how many of those ships are manned with full complements, and how many with nucleus or reduced nucleus crews?

Mr. McKENNA

As regards the first part of the question, I can ony refer the hon. Member to the Dilke Return, as the precise degree of effectiveness of the older ships must be a matter of opinion. The numbers are:—With full complements, 28; with nucleus crews, 12 (including the '" Revenge "; with reduced nucleus crews, 15 (including the "Nile" and "Trafalgar ") The last figure includes also two ships which, being more than twenty years old, are not shown in the last Dilke Return.
