HC Deb 09 March 1910 vol 14 cc1481-2
Mr. SHEEHAN

asked whether Thomas Mullane, tenant of a labourer's cottage at Coolavokig, Lissacreasig, Macroom, applied some years ago to the Macroom Rural District Council for an additional half-acre; has the applicant made numerous representations to the council on the matter; has it been sought to induce him to accept a half-acre of rock surface instead of arable land; and what action does the Local Government Board intend to take to secure that Mullane shall get a suitable and workable plot of land?

Mr. BIRRELL

It is not mandatory on a rural district council to give the maximum quantity of land allowed for a garden allotment by the Labourers Acts, and the Local Government Board do not therefore intend to take any action with respect to Mullane's application for an additional half-acre.
