HC Deb 30 June 1910 vol 18 c1086
Captain CRAIG

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs if he would provide a translation of the official oath or declaration taken by the Queen of Spain renouncing the Protestant faith and accepting the doctrines of the Roman Catholic Church?

The SECRETARY of STATE for FOREIGN AFFAIRS (Sir E. Grey)

A declaration was, I understand, made by the Princess Ena of Battenberg before her marriage in the terms invariably required in the case of any person received into the Roman Catholic Church. Such declarations are of a purely personal character, and are not matters with which His Majesty's Government are concerned. I am not aware of any official oath or declaration made by Her Majesty, as Queen of Spain, on or after her marriage.
