HC Deb 30 June 1910 vol 18 cc1101-2
Sir HERBERT ROBERTS

asked the Solicitor-General whether his attention has been drawn to the memorial which has been presented to the presiding judge of the circuit by the Mayor, Aldermen, and Burgesses of the borough of Ruthin against the removal of the assizes now held at Ruthin to Chester; whether he is aware that the proposed change would not only affect the borough of Ruthin, but would cause inconvenience, loss of time, and expense to the jurors, witnesses, and other persons concerned in the county of Denbigh and adjacent North Wales counties; and whether an opportunity will be provided for making further representations against the proposed change before a decision is arrived at?

Sir RUFUS ISAACS

My attention has been drawn to the memorial in question, but I have no personal knowledge of the facts except from the representations in the memorial. I have already said, in answer to similar questions, that care will he taken that the House shall have the opportunity of discussing any proposals involving any substantial alteration in the present circuit system. It is always open to the localities affected to make such further representations outside this House as they may deem desirable against the inclusion of the change mentioned in any scheme of rearrangement.
