HC Deb 29 June 1910 vol 18 cc943-4
Mr. WILLIAM THORNE

asked the Prime Minister whether, seeing that in celebration of His Majesty's accession, remissions of sentences and condonation of certain offences have been granted to the Navy, Army, mercantile marine, and the Metropolitan Police Force, it is his intention to advise, as an act of grace, a remission or reduction of punishment or disqualification to civil servants?

The PRIME MINISTER

I am not sure that I understand what kind of punishments or disqualifications the hon. Member has in mind, but I may refer him to a reply given by my right hon. Friend the Postmaster-General on the 14th instant to a question put by the hon. Member for South Islington.

Mr. W. THORNE

May I ask the right hon. Gentleman whether he is aware that various civil servants have been punished for different offences, and, if so, whether they should not receive remissions of their sentences similar to those granted in the case of the police and others?

The PRIME MINISTER

I would ask the hon. Gentleman to furnish me with particulars.

Mr. W. THORNE

They are too numerous.
