HC Deb 20 June 1910 vol 18 c20
Mr. STEPHEN GWYNN

asked the Secretary to the Treasury whether he was aware of the discontent which had long existed among the permanent officials of the Registry of Deeds in Ireland owing to the great increase of work thrown on the staff by recent legislation; and whether any steps were being taken to remedy their grievances?

The SECRETARY to the TREASURY (Mr. Hobhouse)

I am aware that representations on this subject have been received from the Registry of Deeds, and the matter is under the consideration of the Treasury.

Mr. GWYNN

In view of the fact that the grievance has been permitted to exist for several years, cannot some hastening be effected?

Mr. HOBHOUSE

A representation was made on the last day of January this year —not several years ago.
