HC Deb 20 June 1910 vol 18 c28
Mr. BOTTOMLEY

asked the President of the Local Government Board whether he was aware that for some time past the Camberwell Board of Guardians had been in the habit of sending daily supplies of meat to the Salvation Army shelter at Blackfriars; whether such meat was subsequently sold by the Salvation Army to persons using the shelter; whether any payment had been made to the guardians in respect of such meat; and, if not, by whose authority -the property of the Camberwell ratepayers was dealt with in this way?

Mr. BURNS

According to my present information it has been the practice at the Camberwell Infirmary to give the meat from which beef tea has been extracted, and remains of refuse food from the officers' meals, and occasional bones, to representatives of the Salvation Army who call for it. I am making further inquiry into the subject.
