§ Dr. ADDISONasked the Postmaster-General if he is aware that mail drivers employed by contractors to His Majesty's Government are required, on the issue of new uniforms, to return the old uniforms to the contractor, or, on their failing to do so, are subjected to a fine; whether such a practice is in accordance with the regulations; and, if so, what becomes of the old uniforms?
§ Mr. HERBERT SAMUELThe contractors for mail cart services are required to put their drivers into uniform, but the contracts do not provide for old uniforms being retained by the men when new ones are issued. I am inquiring as to the practice, which I understand varies in different cases, and I will communicate later with the hon. Member in the matter.
