§ Mr. MITCHELL-THOMSONasked the Chief Secretary for Ireland whether he is aware that on 4th June the dead body of a cow belonging to District Inspector O'Neill was found at Gorey with a bullet wound in the forehead; whether, two months ago, another cow belonging to the same officer was also found under like circumstances; and whether anyone has been arrested in connection with these offences?
§ Mr. BIRRELLI understand that a cow belonging to District Inspector O'Neill was found dead on the 4th instant with a bullet wound in the forehead. In September last another cow belonging to him was found dead, but the veterinary surgeon who examined the animal stated that it had died from disease. No arrests have been made up to the present in connection with the case.
