Mr. COOPERasked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Board of Agriculture if the attention of his Department has been drawn to the appearance of the large larch sawfly in Wales, and, if so, is he taking any steps to deal with this pest?
§ Sir E. STRACHEYYes. A Memorandum on the subject was issued in the spring, and further publicity has been given to the matter in a communication sent to the Press. An attempt is now being made to control the pest by the distribution in certain parts of Wales of parasites which are known to destroy the caterpillars.
