HC Deb 27 July 1910 vol 19 c2089
Sir GEORGE WHITE

asked whether an assistant white clergyman has been appointed to take the place of the State clergyman at Lagos during the necessarily frequent furlough of the reverend gentleman; and, if not, what provision does the Government intend to make for the burial of white men who die at Lagos during the absence of this clergyman?

Colonel SEELY

The question of appointing an assistant clergyman has not been raised. I should suppose that the clergyman now resident in Lagos will not proceed on leave without arranging with some minister of religion to take his place during his absence. In that case the difficulties which my hon. Friend apprehends would be avoided.
