HC Deb 20 July 1910 vol 19 cc1247-8
Sir CHARLES DILKE

asked the Under-Secretary of State for India whether he was aware that steps had recently been taken with a view to develop the match industry in India; and, if so, whether the provisions of the Act forbidding the manufacture of matches with yellow phosphorus in this country or their importation were likely to be recommended on international grounds by the Secretary of State to the Government of India as suitable for adoption by the Indian Legislature?

Mr. MONTAGU

The Secretary of State has received a report on the subject from the Government of India. It is under his consideration.
